Will busses be able to take me back to start?

There will be no return bus service to the starting lines after the race

What is the elevation drop for each race?

Full - 2270, half - 1290', 10K - 540'

Are there any hills?

Mile 1 (100 feet) & Mile 11 (137 feet)

What are the aid station locations?

Approximately every 2 miles

What the bathroom locations?

Located at 10 of the aid stations along the course

What time do the buses pick up?

Spearfish Holiday Inn 

Full Marathon - 4:00 AM

Half Marathon - 4:45 AM

City Park (Finish Line area)

Full Marathon - 4:00 AM

Half Marathon - 4:45 AM

10 K - 5 AM

Can we drive ourselves to the starting lines?

For the full marathon start, yes. For the half marathon, yes but must be dropped off at Savoy. For the 10k we can only allow drop off's only as there is no parking. Please note that there is no return bus service to the starting lines.

What kind of drink/food will be at the aid stations?

We will have water and Gatorade at each aid station, gels will be provided at miles 18 & 20

What is the cut off time for the race?

The course will close 6 hrs after the start of Dakota Spirit Full Marathon at 6:30 am.  As a remider Leading Ladies Marathon and relay teams starts at 6 AM.

Can we cut the tangents on the course?

For the full marathon you can but only until the Cheyenne Crossing just after mile 6. After this you will be on the highway and will need to run against traffic and to the left of the white line. Crossing the line can result in disqualification.

Will there be a bag drop?

Yes we will have bag drop vehicles at all 3 starting lines and bags must be dropped off 15 minutes before the race start.

Will there be medical help on the course?

Yes, there will be medical personal along the course and at the finish line to help

Are the men and women starting at different times?

Leading Ladies Marathon & all Relay teams start at 6:00am. Men's Dakota Spirit Marathon, Dakota Spirit Half Marathon and the Dakota Spirit 10K will start at 6:30am

What are the relay exchange locations?

#1 - Lead Country Club to Cheyenne Crossing - 5.6 miles
#2 - Cheyenne Crossing to Spearfish Canyon Lodge - 5.5 miles
#3 - Spearfish Canyon Lodge to The Dice - 5.4 miles
#4 - The Dice to Aid station at 21.9 - 5.4 miles
#5 - Finish line leg - 4.3 miles

All Relay exchange points will be clearly marked with signs.

What happens if I need to drop mid race?

Make your way to the closest aid station and they will arrange to get you to the finish.
